Fairchild Semiconductor Wins Innovation Award 2010

SAN JOSE, Calif. – November 17, 2010 – Fairchild Semiconductor (NYSE: FCS), a leading global supplier of high performance power and mobile products, has won an Innovation Award 2010 from Electronics Design News (EDN) China.

Fairchild was voted a Leading Product in the Power Device and Module category for its series of primary side regulation (PSR)and pulse-width modulation (PWM) controllers, which includes the FSEZ1307 and the FSEZ1317.

“Designers of charger and adapter applications have been challenged to lower standby power and achieve higher efficiency, while at the same time reducing the form factor of their designs,” said Benjamin Tan, Fairchild’s regional vice president, Sales & Marketing, China and South East Asia. “Fairchild’s broad portfolio of PSR PWM controllers, including the award-winning FSEZ1307 and FSEZ1317, helps simplify designs, save board space and meet today’s demands for power savings in power-sensitive applications such as power adapters, power supplies, lighting applications, computers, industrial controls and home appliances.”

The third-generation PSR PWM controller combinations provide several features to enhance the performance of low-power flyback converters such as TRUECURRENT™ technology, a proprietary method developed by Fairchild to regulate output current by using a PSR controlled flyback converter without secondary feedback circuitry. TRUECURRENT technology enables precise Constant Current (CC) regulation and simplified circuit design for battery-charger applications. This technology enables designers to create low-cost, smaller and lighter chargers compared to a conventional design or a linear transformer.

This prestigious award was officially presented to Benjamin Tan at a ceremony held in Shenzhen, Southern China, on November 17, 2010.
