Product Change Notices (PCNs)

General PCN Policy

Fairchild's PCN process was developed to be compliant to the JEDEC standard, JESD46, Customer Notification of Product/Process Changes by Semiconductor Suppliers. All customers of record are notified of major changes and provided with a minimum of 90 days notification prior to implementation of the change.

Customers requiring samples or additional data to evaluate a change should contact Fairchild within 30 days of the date of notification. Unnecessary delays in requesting data or samples may limit Fairchild's ability to provide a continuous supply of product. Fairchild will have samples of the most common products available at the time a PCN is issued. For various reasons, it is not always possible to have samples available for every product type impacted by the change. We encourage customers to evaluate the impact of a change based on the samples that are available.

Customers who require a more detailed evaluation to qualify the impact of an announced change are encouraged to complete their evaluation within the 90 day PCN notification period. Customers should work with their local Fairchild sales representative to place orders for sufficient quantities of unchanged product to support their manufacturing needs if any such evaluation will require more than 90 calendar days.

IHS

Fairchild has partnered with IHS to provide customers with immediate product change and product obsolescence notifications. The IHS service will provide you with an email announcement every time Fairchild issues a product change or obsolescence notice. You can customize your preferences so you only receive notifications for the Fairchild products you specify. This service is free of charge for Fairchild customers and allows viewing of all Fairchild notifications. Even customers who receive notifications directly from Fairchild may find the features of the service, such as the ability to search for changes by product number, a good reason to subscribe.
