New Packaging for Low Voltage Logic: DQFN (75% smaller than TSSOP)
Industry's smallest quad, hex and octal logic packages. Small packaging for low voltage logic facilitates feature additions in ultra-portables. Picture below shows relative size of DQFN versus TSSOP. Diagram shows the 74LCX138 - now available in DQFN - used for processor port expansion in an MP3 player.

Known also as CROSSVOLTTM, the series consists of 5 low voltage product families tailored to specific requirements for speed and drive.

VCXTM - Optimized for 2.5V, specified for operation from 1.65V to 3.6V

Fairchild Semiconductor low voltage VCX logic with speeds of 1.8ns is the first 2.5V logic standard capable of operating at voltage ranges from 3.6V to 1.65V. VCX is ideal for designs in low voltage 3.3V, 2.5V, 1.8, and mixed-voltage system applications. Current drive is 24mA.

ALVC

Similar to VCX, specified as alternate industry family.

LCX – the 3.3V logic industry standard

Introduced in 1994, the LCX family has become the logic industry standard for 3.3V applications. Provides 4.5ns speed while operating at 3V. Over-voltage tolerance allows the designer to use 5V components in conjunction with LCX. Output current is 24mA.

LVX – 3.3V CMOS

The LVX family operates in mixed voltage systems between 3V and 5V systems. The 3.3V performance of the LVX gates, MSI functions, and octals match or surpass the performance of the 5V HC family.

LVT – 3.3V BiCMOS

Fairchild Semiconductor’s Low Voltage Technology (LVT) is a 3.3V family designed to perform similar to ABT (at 5V) with the advantages of 3.3V. LVT is a BiCMOS product that provides bus hold inputs, live insertion and extraction, and power up and power down 3-STATE. The series provides 64mA drive.
