award, and were judged according to
four criteria: 1) brand influence;

(must provide excellent local support
and services in terms of R&D, manufacturing,
procurement and sales).
Fairchild Korea Semiconductor Awarded "Best Workplace" in Korea
Fairchild Semiconductor was awarded "Best Workplace" in Korea, by Hankyoreh Newspaper Company – one of the most renouned daily newspapers in Korea. Fairchild received the award in March, 2008 and was based on its sound labor and management relations, top level welfare system, fun-management effort and corproate citizenship efforts. This award was a result of a research project by major Korean universities.

Fairchild Semiconductor Listed as One of the "100 Best Corporate Citizens"
Fairchild Semiconductor was recognized as one of the "100 Best Corporate Citizens" by CRO Magazine in their annual ranking of public companies in the United States. Fairchild was recognized for their sustainability initiatives and corporate responsibility actions. In compiling the 100 Best, CRO ranked the corporate responsibility efforts of large-cap companies from the Russell 1000 index in eight categories: Climate Change, Employee Relations, Environment, Financial, Governance, Human Rights, Lobbying and Philanthropy. Transparency is an important component of corporate responsibility and the results were based on publicly-available data from company financial disclosures, sustainability, environment and citizenship reports, websites, EPA databases and a number of other sources as part of a standardized research processes.

Semiconductor Named a Top 100 Employer
by Electronic Design Magazine
Fairchild Semiconductor has been named
one of “The Top 100 Employers in Electronic
Design” in a survey conducted by Electronics
Design (ED) magazine. Fairchild placed
24 out of 100 total companies that
lead in design influence, hiring patterns,
rich patent and IP portfolios and substantial
R&D budgets. Among the companies
on the list that provide both analog
power ICs and discrete solutions, Fairchild
ranked the highest. The well-known
publication based the survey on extensive
market and media data as well as reader
input that measured employee satisfaction.
Taiwan's
Intellectual Property Bureau names
System General in Best Contributor
and Best Patented Invention categories
System General, the Taiwan-based wholly-owned
subsidiary of Fairchild Semiconductor
targeting worldwide AC/DC off-line
power conversion applications, has
won two of Taiwan's prestigious National
Invention Awards 2007. The awards were
made in three categories: Best Contributor,
Best Patented Invention and Best Patented
Design. System General was successful
in the Best Contributor category, and
its PWM controller with off-time modulation
for power conversion was a silver award
winner in the Best Patented Invention
category. The awards, introduced in
1992 to encourage local Taiwan companies
to focus their efforts on invention
and innovation, are organized by the
Ministry of Economic Affairs Intellectual
Property Bureau and examined more than
300 total entries.

Customs Service Award
Fairchild Semiconductor announced
the Korean Customs Service has recently
honored Fairchild with the “Fair Partner”
award for exemplary business operation
and performance. The award was
presented by Yun-kap Seong, commissioner
of Korea Customs Service, to Young-jo
Jang, director, Equipment Technology
Team, Bucheon Operations, Fairchild
Korea Semiconductor Ltd.

Chamber of Commerce
Fairchild Semiconductor Mountaintop

Award by the Wilkes-Barre Chamber of
Commerce for their creation and successful
completion of a self-developed project
entitled Project Einstein. This is
the second time in three years that
Fairchild Semiconductor has received
this honor, although the Chamber prefers
to acknowledge a new awardee as often
as possible, they could not overlook
the accomplishments of this project.

Initiative

Again Receives Maine Governor's
Award for Environmental Excellence
Fairchild Semiconductor received the
Maine Governor's Award for Environmental
Excellence and has been honored in
the “Pollution Prevention” category
for the invention and use of an environmentally-friendly
detergent to remove ink from wafers
at the company's South Portland facility. With
this new approach, Fairchild achieved
yet another one of its commitments
to the Step-Up Program (Smart Tracks
for Exceptional Performers and Upward
Performers) by reducing VOC (volatile
organic compound) emissions to the
lowest possible level with current
technology.
