Fairchild's Mini-SPM series, with ratings from 3 A to 30 A and all in the industry's most compact Mini-DIP packaging, offers best-in-class thermal performance and design flexibility
Fairchild's Smart Power Module series, in 44 mm by 26.8 mm DIP packaging, integrate high-voltage ICs (HVICs), low-voltage ICs (LVICs), IGBTs and fast recovery diodes. These SPMs allow manufacturers to increase system efficiency by replacing standard motors with higher efficiency 3-phase inverter motors. These devices ensure reliability, cost-effectiveness, and lower part count for consumer applications such as washing machines and air conditioners.
Features and Benefits
- 600 V/3 A to 30 A rating in one package (with identical mechanical layouts)- Low-loss efficient IGBTs and fast recovery diodes (FRDs) optimized for motor drive applications
- High reliability due to fully tested coordination of HVIC and IGBTs:
• High-side: Control circuit under voltage (UV) protection (without fault signal output)
• Low-side: UV and short-circuit (SC) protection through external shunt resistor (with fault signal output)
- Single-grounded power supply and optocoupler-less interface due to built-in HVIC
- High-active input signal logic resolves the startup and shutdown sequence constraint between the control supply and control input providing fail-safe operation with direct connection between the SPM and CPU or DSP. This eliminates the need for an additional external sequence logic
- Divided negative DC link terminals for inverter current sensing applications
- Isolation voltage rating of 2500 Vrms/min
- Very low leakage current due to ceramic heat-sink and DBC substrate
- Package designed to satisfy the basic creepage and clearance spacing - UL certified No. E209204
